Don’t Miss the 2017 Digital Trends Outdoor Awards

My buddy Rick got to do something pretty rad this summer—

Test out a whole slew of the latest technology-infused adventure gear all throughout the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Why? The Digital Trends Outdoor Awards.

 

Technology is changing the way we explore the outdoors. I mean this past June I was Tweeting team updates from Denali’s advanced base camp at 14,000 feet and navigating whiteouts on the glacier with soul-calming ease thanks to the Garmin Inreach Explorer+.

I can now spend summer nights reading under tent-infused solar powered LED’s thanks to Big Agnes’ MTNglo with Goal Zero integration while the gas-powered Thermacell Backpacker repels mosquitos for up to 90 hours on a single canister.

There are some seriously cool innovations exploding onto the adventure tech scene, making the outdoors safer and more accessible for all. And that’s exactly what the Digital Trends Outdoor Awards aimed to spotlight.

They chose six winners across six categories, those being:

The 2017 Outdoor Awards kicked off yesterday with a demo of their Cooking category winner, the BioLite CampStove 2, as well as some helpful fire-starter hacks.
