Explore Inspired started as a simple writing project. I had released the Between The Peaks film, and was wondering how best to continue sharing my adventures and inspirations. Explore Inspired was the answer.
The blog grew steadily and amassed a pretty decent following in the last year, which led me to think about where to take the brand next.
“Why not take readers along for the adventures?”
That thought sparked an amazing idea. I didn’t want to turn this into just another travel company. I wanted to offer people the chance to experience real adventure. To discover what it’s like going into the unknown. These would be microcosms of the Between The Peaks experience—No itinerary. No expectations. No comfort zone. Experiments in exploration.
This past December, to test this idea, I took a couple amazing people up to Iceland for a winter camping expedition. The country was hit by one of the worst storms they’ve seen in years and any original plans I had were abruptly dismantled. I should have expected this much! Plans, like the weather, changed on a dime, and I ended up taking the guys north to the town of Grundarfjörður, on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.
We spent a night camping in the snowy fields just above Kirkjufell mountain, weathering out a crazy storm and getting an heart stopping glimpse of the Northern Lights. I don’t know many people who can say they’ve gone camping in Iceland in the middle of winter, and that’s the idea of Explore Inspired. To have the kinds of experiences most people can only dream about!
